Exercise and Anti-aging
57Studies continue to show the linkage between exercise and anti-aging, as published in the 28th January issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.
Then why in a society that yearns to stay young forever, aren't more people exercising?
Two of the primary reasons: 1) people look at exercise as an all or nothing deal and 2) many people don't realize that exercise can be tremendously beneficial, regardless of your age when you start to become more active.
We've all seen the exercise and weight loss commercials, especially at this time of year, that depict the highly energetic "20-something" year old working out at the gym, then going home to prepare the perfectly balanced meal.
Well, in reality, that isn't what works for everyone. Not to worry...
Create your own exercise program that works just for you. Many exercise regimens are abandoned because people aim for perfection in their workout routine by setting their goals to high. Set realistic goals, FOR YOU and your chances of feeling successful will be far greater!
If you can, increase your goals as you go along. If you don't think you can, give it a try anyway, but if you really can't step it up, that's fine. Do what YOU can do! Remember, all exercise is good exercise and doing what you can is far better for your health than not doing anything. Apply this same principle to weight loss and you may begin to see results there, also!
What if you're in your 40's, 50's, 60's, or older and haven't done an ounce of exercise yet. That's okay. If you start now you will still gain tremendous health benefits. At any age who wouldn't want the exercise benefits of increased flexibility, weight stabilization, stronger muscles, better emotional outlook and pain relief, just to name a few.
So, the bottom line with exercise is; start doing something, anything, and you can begin your own fight against aging!
